Fatal Collision - Trans Canada Highway Salmon Arm
S/Sgt. Scott West, NCO i/c Salmon Arm RCMP
On July 25, 2022 at approximately 1:05PM a patrolling RCMP member observed smoke just east of 30th Street NE and proceeded east on the Trans Canada. At that time, he observed a two vehicle collision with one vehicle on fire.
The subsequent investigation reveled that a BMW SUV was travelling east when it lost control. The BMW SUV veered into the westbound lanes and into the path of a west bound Ford F150 towing a tent trailer. The two vehicles collided and passing motorists who stopped were able to get the driver and passenger out of the white F150. The driver and his female passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of the people at the scene they could not get the driver of the BMW out of the vehicle which was fully involved in fire.
As the Salmon Arm RCMP continues their investigation they are seeking any dash camera video from motorists who were in the area leading up to the crash. Particularly, video which may have been captured of a Silver or gray BMW X5 SUV travelling east between the 21st Street NE overpass and 38th St NE on the Trans Canada Highway between the hours of 12:50PM and 1:10PM on July 25, 2022.
