Mural Celebrating 54 Years

Submitted by Maureen Croft-Steen

Blind Bay Memorial Hall and the Blind Bay Painters are celebrating a unique partnership of 54 years.

In 1968 the Blind Bay Painters moved into the Blind Bay Memorial Hall, formally the  Blind Bay School, and on July 10th 1969 they had their first art show.  Thirty people attended and one of the first visitors was a tourist, Sarte Arawa, from Papua New Guinea.  The art shows at Blind Bay Memorial Hall still attract visitors from around the world as they vacation in our area.

The mural has been designed to portray the unique connection that the Blind Bay Painters have with the Blind Bay Memorial Hall in its beautiful location in the bay which continues to inspire the artists.

As a group, the Blind Bay Painters have collaborated to paint the mural which is now proudly displayed at the entrance to the Reedman Gallery on the lower level of the Hall.  We encourage all residents and visitors to come and view the mural as they visit the Hall and Gallery.
