Notch Hill Natter

Notch Hill Hall

With all the fires in BC and the Bush Creek fire spreading all the way here to the Sorrento area we are all in a state of shock still, I’m sure. I am so grateful that the Notch Hill Hall and Heritage Buildings are still standing as well as all our homes in this area. If you have lost your homes, on behalf of all of us we are so sorry. In the weeks to come we will all stand together and help each other. I’m sorry to say the fires won’t be out till it’s out and this can linger till snow flies or we get some heavy rains. Thank you to all the fire fighters, fire dept, first responders and others who helped save homes. Thank you to April Midan for all your help with food for livestock and helping so many with their animals. You are our local hero. We are all hoping for rain and for all the fires to go out. Be safe everyone.

We are getting things in order for the Second Annual Fall Harvest Market and Haunted Pumpkin Patch. This was such a well-attended fun event for the whole family last year. I’m hoping it will become a new family tradition, so if you attended last fall be sure to come again this fall. This year it falls on Saturday Oct 7, Thanksgiving weekend so you can bring any visiting friends or family. The haunted grounds will be full of assorted pumpkins and some friendly ghosts and goblins. Pick the ones you want and take them home for Halloween. Vendors will be inside the hall as well as outside. Why not start your holiday shopping or find something special for yourself. Paint a pumpkins will be back as well for kids and adults. This will be available throughout the day in designated areas. All supplies provided with pumpkin for $8.00. Yummy food will be available such as hot dogs, popcorn, caramel and chocolate apples, and hot buttered corn on the cob. Special Guests will be walking about wanting to be petted so keep an eye out. Make sure to check out the haunted school house basement as well. It will be a great day so be sure to join us rain or shine. 1639 Notch Hill road Sorrento. Our Country Christmas Market will be on Saturday Nov 4 from 9-3. Vendors will be in the Hall as well as School House.

The electricians will be working on the well wiring and the UV system. When this is completed we will have fresh drinking water in the hall. This is a great accomplishment and will benefit the hall for years to come. Thanks to all who made this happen. We will be looking into washroom renovations, painting the white church and other improvement for next year.

Donations are always welcome to help with upkeep. We are always looking for volunteers to help with events and would love some help for the Fall Pumpkin Patch Market. Feel free to contact me for more information. We are looking for bigger Halloween décor to help with our event Oct 7 so if you have a fog machine or any other things we can borrow/or donate that would be great.
