ROOTS & BLUES Festival Date Moved to Last Weekend in July
Media Release - ROOTSandBLUES announces date change Annual festival now held last weekend in July in Salmon Arm
SALMON ARM, B.C.—ROOTSandBLUES fans will be celebrating world-class music a little earlier next summer.
After the unprecedented challenges caused by Canada’s worst wildfire season on record and with the support of stakeholders and volunteers, the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society (SAFMS) is excited to bump up the dates of the annual festival to July 26-28, 2024.
Now in its 32 nd year, the SAFMS—the non-profit behind the ROOTSandBLUES festival—hopes the festival will benefit from better weather in July and historically less smoky skies to give everyone the best festival experience possible.
“The Salmon Arm Folk Music Society has faced its fair share of financial bumps and threats from the COVID pandemic and the recent fires in the Shuswap,” says David Gonella, executive director. “At every turn, we’ve been eager to find a positive solution. Changing dates isn’t a band-aid fix but a chance to be better prepared.” Kevin Tobin, artistic director, adds the change aligns with the society’s goal of making
ROOTSandBLUES a strong, inclusive and accessible festival. “These new dates help ensure ROOTSandBLUES remains a vibrant and sustainable festival that continues to showcase the beautiful Shuswap and enhance the quality of life for residents and the business community,” says Tobin.
Early-bird passes to the 32nd annual ROOTSandBLUES festival, now held the last weekend in July, will go on sale Dec. 5.
