SASCU Hosts 78th Annual General Meeting

SASCU Credit Union hosted their 78th Annual General Meeting for members on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. The in-person event held at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort provided a lunch buffet to the attendees. Online attendance was also an option, allowing members to join from the comfort of their homes, offices, or remote locations.

The meeting included a review of 2023 financials, including a presentation from auditors MNP. SASCU finished the year strong with pre-tax earnings of $4.3 million.

Board Chair Dave Witt shared his pride in SASCU’s success amidst a year of excessive inflation, inconsistent employment opportunities, and Bank of Canada high interest rates. “Our ability to maintain profitability bolsters member confidence and ensures we are able to continue to have a profound impact in our communities,” Witt said.

“I’m incredibly pleased with SASCU’s success throughout 2023,” said SASCU President & CEO Barry Delany. “Looking ahead we anticipate continuing and heightened challenges, which we have well-positioned SASCU to navigate and continue moving forward.”

The results of SASCU’s Board of Director election were also announced. Five fellow members put their names forward for the three spots available to join SASCU Board of Directors. Dawn Dunlop was successfully re-elected, joined by Steve DeBoer and Riley Boudreau. DeBoer is a finance and accounting professional who maintains strong community connections serving as longstanding volunteer and board member with several organizations in the Shuswap. Boudreau is a self-described serial entrepreneur and philanthropist, with substantial contributions locally and internationally. His career focus has been in the Technology sector. Former directors John Schlosar and Joan Ragsdale were appreciated and recognized for their contributions and commitment during their tenures.
