Press Release — June 6, 2023

The Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society (CSISS) is thrilled to announce its upcoming 10th-anniversary celebration. This significant milestone marks a decade of dedicated efforts to protect ecosystems in the region from the threats posed by invasive species. On Thursday, June 15th, 2023, CSISS will hold a small celebration to reflect on our accomplishments, recognize our contributors, and look ahead to the future.

Since its inception, CSISS has made progress in tackling invasive species and their impact on our natural environment. Through collaboration, education, and on-the-ground initiatives, we have been working to preserve the delicate balance of our local ecosystems. Our achievements are the product of the dedication of our staff, board members, and the support of the community and funders.

The anniversary celebration will be an opportunity to honor the contributions and commitment of past and current staff and board members, key partners, funders and volunteers. We will present special longstanding recognition awards to individuals who have played a pivotal role in our success over the past ten years. Their unwavering support and hard work have been integral to CSISS's growth and impact.

CSISS Technician Nolan Novotny will give a short presentation on invasive insects (his passion!) Outreach Coordinator Jess Booth will lead us on a nature walk, checking out an interactive boot brush station installed at the Revelstoke Greenbelt. We will also be holding some interactive invasive species activities and sharing a relaxed lunch with our guests.

We would like to publicly thank the close friends and families of CSISS, the long-standing funders and partners, and in kind contributors, as we acknowledge the meaningful role they play in supporting our organization's mandates.

CSISS would like to express its deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the organization's growth and success over the past decade. Together, we have made a lasting impact on the preservation of our region's precious ecosystems.
