Workshops and Bingo Return to Blind Bay Memorial Hall

By Maureen Croft-Steen

After a hectic November and December, we had a quiet and restful holiday season at the hall. Now it is time to start preparing for the busy spring season coming up.

We start on February 24 with the ever-popular Old-Fashioned Bingo, not only is there a chance to win prizes but enjoy a night of fun and laughter with our entertaining bingo caller. Doors open at 6:00 pm.

The workshops begin with a 2-day art workshop on March 9 and 10 given by Juve Furtado. Juve who was born in the Azores and taught school in Winnipeg, is currently residing in Vernon and is a member of the Society of Canadian Artists. He has won numerus awards, the most recent in July 2023 at the Federation of Canadian artists OASIS show in Penticton and The People Choice Awards at the Regional Federation Show in Kamloops. Juve has previously taught two workshops at Blind Bay Memorial Hall, the last being in May 2018.

Well known local fiber artist and teacher, Kirsten Chapman, is bringing quilting back to the hall with an interesting technique class on piercing curves using the quick curve ruler. This will be a two-day class (March 4 and 11) and is a fundraiser for Blind Bay Memorial Hall. All proceeds will help fund the hall operations.

On March 15 we are having our first ever Trivia Night, so come and join us for fun and laughter with your teammates while giving your brain a challenge. Our Spring Fling Dance featuring the popular band Island Fogg will be on March 30.

Upcoming events you can look forward to is the Plant Sale Event in May and of course the Reedman Gallery Art and Gift Event in July and August.
