SASCU Hosts 77th Annual General Meeting
Media Release
SALMON ARM (May 3rd, 2023) – SASCU hosted their 77th Annual General Meeting for members on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023. The in person event held at the Prestige Inn provided a lunch buffet to the attendees. Online attendance was also provided as an option. In addition, representatives of community groups who received SASCU funds in 2022 were invited as special guests and acknowledged as part of the event.
Board Chair Dave Witt was distinctly proud of SASCU’s success considering the residual effects of the pandemic, global staffing shortages, rampant inflation, and interest rate increases. “Amidst all this, SASCU experienced strong financial results, launched new services, and crystallized actions to meet the objectives of our strategic plan,” Witt said.
SASCU assets passed the $1 Billion mark in 2022. This is a 16% increase over the prior year. “The Board appreciates the efforts of management and staff for these accomplishments, particularly helping members weather hardships caused by rising interest rates.”
Enhancing the digital experience for both staff and members continued to see great progress. “Besides just making banking easier, it opens up capacity for staff to provide more personalized advice to members and clients,” said SASCU President & CEO Barry Delany. “This puts us in a better place to build up their money confidence to reach their goals.”
In April 2023, four people ran for the three spots available in the annual Board of Directors election. Dave Witt was successfully re-elected joined by newcomers Ken Rogers and Tanja Carlson. Rogers is a retired professional accountant and business person who has held many senior leadership roles for various publicly traded companies. Carlson is well-known for her 20-year employment with Community Futures Shuswap and many volunteer activities. Former directors Dave King and Kelly Bennett were recognized and appreciated for their time and commitment during their tenures.
